![]() They are super hot and super aggressive.ĭISCLAIMER: Of course, these are just my impressions and opinions. However, I can see how just like the EMG 81/85s, for the right sound these could be perfect. Dirty channels tend to be overwhelming to me, especially when chords of 3 or more notes get into it. High notes have a really great round bell like chime to them. (The regular Hellraisers use EMG active pickups almost exclusively.) What is sort of interesting to me about the ones I have played around with is that I find the clean neck tones to be the most appealing. I find that these have an edge not totally unlike the EMG 81/85 pair, which I suppose is fitting and perhaps intentional since they are the Hellraiser Passive pickup of choice. Brimstone - I feel like I should like these more than I do, but something just doesn't sit well with me.I have played with 2 guitars that have apocalypse pickups, and watched a dozen YouTube videos of these pups, and I always love the sound that they produce in any guitar. To me, these are just a great balance of edge and clarity. I also find that even on high gain, the individual notes inside chords are not overwhelmed by noise, like with some super hot pickups. They are hot but not too hot, and the neck pickups (especially with a little extra string height) give really clear but warm tones. For me they have a really gritty, saw tooth edge on high gain that is both consistent overall but organic sounding (as opposed to say EMG 81/85, which have an edge that is extraordinarily consistent, almost mechanical). Interestingly enough, these use 3 magnets per pole, a mixture of ceramic, AlNiCo II and AlNiCo V. Apocalypse - My favorite pickup right now.Someone who prefers to alter their sound after the guitar can probably utilize this to work some magic, as they are so dependably middle-of-the-road. They get the job done, but don't have much in the way of individual character. I found them to be effective but super average pickups. I am unsure if this is just a wide allowable tolerance, or if they actually voice the coils closer to the instrument they are going in. While these pickups all have the same look and name, they seem to have different voicing. I have owned 2 guitars that had these in them, a Banshee Extreme (HSS), and a C-6 Elite (HH). Diamond Plus - The default pups that ship with many of Schecters low to low-mid range guitars.18 October 2019.I wanted to start a thread where I can gather together some impressions and opinions on Schecter pickups. For example, if you are auditioning for a male character, they probably don’t need to hear your old lady impression. If you are creating a demo reel for a specific job position that you desire, make sure the content of your demo reel is relevant to the job.A demo reel should be fairly short, no longer than one to two minutes long, and it should be straight to the point, succinctly showcasing several voices. A potential employer will likely only watch about 30 seconds of your reel, so make it count. Start strong, with your best work showcased in the first 30 seconds of your reel. With a good microphone in a quiet room at home, you can still make a quality recording. ![]() ![]() The content of your demo is most important. It doesn’t guarantee a good demo, just a good quality recording.
